This is a sublime and regal pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Rococo style and dating from about 1880.

They are very grand and would hold back a substantial pair of château curtains.

They are of excellent quality with good weight and wonderful detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The back plate is highly decorative with a crest and descending garlands. The fascia of the hook also has a crest and is ornately adorned with acanthus leaf scrolls.

The gilding has mellowed over the years to a fabulous buttery hue.

The tie backs have a strap on the back of the top plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure :- H 19 cm (7.5 inches) x W 7 cm (2.75 inches) x D 13 cm (5 inches).
