This is an impressive pair of antique French bronze ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Rococo style and dating from about 1880.

They are large and grand and would hold back a very substantial pair of château curtains.

They are of fabulous quality with substantial weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the bronze.

The back plate is highly decorative with acanthus leaf scrollwork. This continues into the fascia of the hook where the acanthus leaf  burgeons out into a magnificent frilled shell like shape.

The lustrous gilding on the tie backs has mellowed in places to a darker old gold to stunning effect.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure :- H 27 cm (10.5 inches) x W 7.5 cm (3 inches) x D 19 cm (7.5 inches).

A magnificent pair of tie backs to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
