This is a sublime antique French planter / jardinière dating from the 1800's.

It is of a size perfect to take a couple of geraniums and would sit beautifully on a window ledge or shelf.

It is made from zinc and is a weighty piece. The silver gilding on the zinc has  mellowed over the years to a lovely pearlescent hue which contrasts fabulously with the darker metal beneath.

The jardinière is highly decorative and cast in wonderful detail. It sits on scrolled feet and has beautiful curved and scrolled acanthus leaf handles. The sides have a central acanthus leaf crest and beneath this is a gorgeous swagged fruit and leaf garland. Even the underside of the jardinière is decorated.

The jardinière is in good condition and would add a gorgeous château chic finishing touch.

It measures :- H 15 cm (6 inches) x W 42 cm (16.5 inches) x D 16 cm (6.25 inches).
