This is a fabulous rare antique French brass rim lock set dating from at least the 19th Century possibly earlier.

It is fully functional and could be installed to fulfill it's use or it could just be displayed as a decorative object and admired for it's sheer beauty!

The set includes the lock, the box keep, the handle and the original key all of which works.

The edge of the lock and keep has a decorative brass border which compliments the intricate design on the brass handle and key hole cover.

The set has acquired a fantastic patina over the years. On close inspection it would appear that the front of the lock and keep were originally red in colour. This patina could be preserved or cleaned off as required. The lock works perfectly but again this could be oiled if required.

As it stands the set could be installed on a cupboard, or on a door to a room if an additional handle is employed.

The set measures :- 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) wide (not including the fixing) x 8 cm (3 inches) high x 11 cm (4.3 inches) deep (from tip of handle to end of key shaft)

The key is 9.25 cm (3.6 inches) long.

This is a fabulous lock to add an authentic château chic touch to a door or to collect and keep for it's beauty.
