B475 - SOLD

This is an exquisite authentic antique French beaded flapper cap dating from the 1920's.

We found it in Paris and it must have once belonged to a very stylish mademoiselle.

It is beautifully made with a myriad of tiny glass beads and faux pearls in a gorgeous shade of dove grey. The beads are worked in a crochet style to form the cap. From the cap hang the tassles that would have swung so freely as the mademoiselle Charlstoned the night away.

Each of the tassels is made of a string of the tiny beads and ends with a faux pearl. All of the glass beads give the cap a nice weight without being too heavy to wear.

The cap has survived the years in excellent condition. There is just one tassel that has lost it's beads. This could be snipped off without being missed, or as the thread remains it could be re-beaded.

We have photographed the cap on an antique child's mannequin head which is listed in our other items but the cap would fit an average size female head.

It measures approx 55 cm (21.75 inches) in circumferance.

The tassels at the back are 12 cm (4.75 inches) long and those at the front are 4 cm (1.5 inches) long.

This is a divine authentic antique French flapper cap to be worn and enjoyed or to be treasured as part of a period costume collection.

Another superb antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
