This is a superb piece of antique French red and white striped mattress ticking dating from the late 1800's. early 1900's.

The ticking would have originally been used to make a mattress cover which would have been stuffed with feathers to make the mattress. This piece has still got a soft down of feathers on the reverse side.

The textile is a tight cotton weave which is very strong and would be perfect for upholstery projects.

The ticking is in a divine shade of pinky red with a thin antique white stripe. It has been newly laundered and has no marks or holes but still retains it's fabulous slightly faded antique character.

There is plenty of textile for projects, this piece measures 184 cm (6 ft ) long x 112 cm (3 ft 8 inches) wide.
