This is a sublime antique French satin bed throw dating from about 1930. It would make a very glamourous addition to a boudoir.

It is made from the most gorgeous satin in a divine shade of coppery / bronze. To the sides and bottom are hand embroidered spring flowers in fabulous vibrant colours.

There are three main groups of flowers, one to the bottom and one to each of the sides. Each one includes narcissi and hyacinths beautifully worked in satin and chain stitch. The narcissi are in a lovely shade of cream and have yellow and orange middles and vibrant green leaves. There are two colours of hyacinths -  one in shades of pink and the other in mauve and lilac. Further up the throw are tiny crocus in vibrant shades of red, yellow, orange, lilac and green.

The throw is beautifully made and has no damage. It has acquired a few minor marks over the years (see pics) but these do not draw the eye and would probably lift with a quick launder if required.

This throw would look very glamourous on a bed but would also make a fantastic curtain as the fabric is heavy and drapes beautifully.

It measures 250 cm (8 ft 2 inches) long x 220 cm (7 ft 2 inches) wide.
