B498 - SOLDThis is a beautiful antique French wired bridal cap dated about 1900 - 1910. It was made in exquisite detail and would have been worn over the veil. The shape of the cap is made from a lattice work of wire. The wire is over bound in silver thread and scattered with tiny flowers. To the side of the cap is a fantastic confection of flowers and ribbon. The flowers are many and varied and include tiny pink and yellow silk flowers, faux pearl flowers and wax orange blossom buds. There are tiny silk stephanotis, coils of faux pearls and bound wax garlands. Lush green leaves ( and one silver leaf) are entwined amongst this profusion. To finish it all off is a gorgeous silk ribbon in a divine shade of antique white. The cap has survived the years in amazing condition and could be incorporated in to a modern day bridal outfit. Because of the wire lattice configuration the cap should fit most female heads. It is impossible to measure so I have just measured the corsage of flowers which is approx. 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 12 (4.75 inches) high. This divine bridal cap would make the perfect 'Something Old' for a bride's outfit or could just be kept and treasured for it's beauty. The cap was photographed on an antique mannequin which we have now sadly sold. The red hat stand is at the time of writing still available and is listed in our other items.
