B505 - SOLD

This is a gorgeous antique French lace curtain / portière dating from the early 1900's. It has a fantastic frill and may once have been one of a pair. It would now make a sublime decorative drape for a tall window or door.

The lace of the curtain has a profusion of flowers and leafy tendrils and this theme is continued into the frill. The seam joining the curtain with the frill is scalloped and this adds even more flounce to the frill. The lace is in a sublime shade of antique cream.

At the top of the back of the curtain is sewn a cotton strip and to this are sewn 10 metal rings for hanging on a pole or cane.

The curtain is newly laundered and in excellent condition with just two tiny snags in the frill at the bottom (see pics).

The curtain including the frill measures 270 cm (8 ft 10 inches) long x 140 cm (4 ft 7 inches) wide. The frill is 20 cm (8 inches) long.

A fabulous antique French lace curtain to add a très jolie touch to a window or door and another fabulous antique French textile find from La Belle Ètoffe.
