This is a dreamy antique French glove / boudoir box in the Art Nouveau style and dating about 1900. This is a fabulous piece of lovely quality and now timeworn to perfection.

On the lid of the box is a metal plate with a beautiful mademoiselle. She is surrounded by fabulous lilies and leaves in a swirling Art Nouveau design.

The outside of the box is covered in a divine silk velvet in a lily and leaf design reflecting that on the metal plate. The colours are beautiful - soft pinks and greens now slightly faded with the passage of time.

The edge of the lid is trimmed with a gorgeous silk passementerie in colours matching those in the velvet.

On the front of the box is a small brass stud which is a remnant of a catch now long gone but not really missed.

The lid of the box lifts up to reveal an interior lined with embossed pink pearlescent paper. This has a little wear around the edges but is intact.

The box is sturdy and suitable for use for many years to come.

This gorgeous box measures:-

36 cm (14 inches) wide x 14 cm (5.5 inches) deep x 8 cm (3.25 inches) high.

This is a fabulous box to use and enjoy in a château chic boudoir and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
