B527 - SOLD

This is an absolutely beautiful antique French bénitier or holy water stoup dating from the early 1900's. It is made from bisque and is painted in lovely colour and detail. It would be perfect for hanging on a wall as part of a period display or collection.

A divine winged angel floats on a billowing cloud above a shell which acts as the bowl for the holy water.

The angel has glorious blue wings and her face is painted in exquisite detail. She has beautiful blue eyes and rosebud lips. She wears a white gown with a blue drape that matches her wings.

The shell is of a fabulous shape and is a gorgeous clear white highlighted with touches of pink and gilding.

The bénitier has two holes at the back to take a ribbon for hanging.

It is in good condition. There may be a chip to the end of the fingers of the angel's right hand (see pics) but this does not detract from the beauty of this lovely bénetier.

It measures 14 cm (5.5 inches) high x 6 cm (2.3 inches) wide x 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) deep.

This beautiful bénitier is a real joy for lovers of angels and would be a worthy addition to any collection.

Another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
