This is a fabulous pair of antique French château curtains complete with pelmet and tie backs. They are made in a gorgeous silk damask and date from about 1930. The whole ensemble is absolutely stunning and in exceptional condition.

The silk damask is striped in glorious shades of dark turquoise, deep pink and green. Down the stripes are beautiful baskets of flowers in a gorgeous shade of old gold which catches the light beautifully. Above each basket is a beautiful bow from which ribbon tails entwined with flowers cascade. These too are in the dark gold thread and the whole effect is breathtaking.

The curtains and pelmet are trimmed with a  fabulous silk passementerie which compliments the colours in the damask perfectly.

The curtains have their original tape, the strings of which can be pulled tighter for more ruching if required. The pelmet also has it's original tape through which hooks can be placed for hanging. Both the curtains and the pelmet have their original linings.

The ensemble is in exceptional condition and is clean. The linings have a little fading as one would expect.

Measurements :-

Pelmet - 194 cm (6 ft 4.5 inches) wide x 42 cm (16.5 inches) max height.

Each curtain - 208 cm (6 ft 10 inches) long x 120 cm (3 ft 11 inches) wide unruched.

Tie backs - 76 cm (2 ft 6 inches) long x 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) deep.

The depth of the pelmet would enable the curtains to be hung a little lower if required thus giving their overall length an extra 20 cm (8 inches).
