B541 - SOLD

This is an absolutely delightful pair of antique French ceramic plates dating from the 19th Century. They each have a charming scene with 3 chubby winged cherubs  languishing amongst the clouds.

In one scene the cherubs snuggle up on a red throw and study a musical score, their quivver of arrows lying beside them. In the other scene they lie on a bed of straw and one of them holds a sheaf of corn aloft.

The cherubs are adorable - all soft and pink with little blue wings.

The scenes are depicted in lovely detail and the colours are sublime.

The plates are a lovely shade of antique white and would once have had a gilded border. The gilding has now worn away to create an effect that adds even more charm to these gorgeous plates.

Although timeworn the plates have no obvious chips or cracks.

They measure 22.5 cm (9 inches) in diameter.

This gorgeous pair of plates is a real joy for lovers of  cherubs and would be a worthy addition to any collection.

Another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!

Please note that at the time of writing we also have a single plate that we found with these and it is listed in our other items.
