This is a superb antique French spelter jardinière and mirrored tray set dating from the 1800's.

It was made to hold a floral display and would have formed the centre piece on a grand dining table. It would also be fabulous on a hall table or the jardinière couls sit on a window ledge and the mirrored tray used on a dressing table in a château chic boudoir.

The jardinière is highly decorative and is made in wonderful detail. It sits on 4 scrolled acanthus leaf feet and has superb scrolled handles. The sides have a central acanthus leaf crest beneath which an exquisite flower and leaf garland trails. Further extensive acanthus leaf scroll work covers the sides. The underside of the jardinière is also decorated and the scrolls and flowers can be seen reflected in the mirrored tray.

The jardinière has a charming lift out zinc tray to take the plants. The tray has two little handles and is in excellent condition.

The mirrored tray also has scrolled acanthus leaf detail to the feet, sides and handles.  The mirror is supported on a wooden plinth. The mirror is in good condition with no chips and just a few minor scratches from years of use.

The metal of the jardinière and tray would have originally been silvered. This has now mellowed to a wonderful palette of subtle greys with rosy highlights .

The jardinière measures :- H 13 cm (5 inches) x W 39 cm (15.25 inches) x D 14 cm (5.5 inches).

The tray measures :- H 7 cm (2.75 inches) at the handles x W 46 cm (18 inches) x D 25 cm (9.75 inches).

The set is substantial and in good condition.

This is a divine jardinière and mirrored tray set to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another superb antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
