B602 - SOLD

This is a superb antique French ormolu picture frame dating from the Napoleon III era, C 1860. It could have been a wedding present as it holds a bridal photo that we believe this to be original to the frame from new.

The frame is very decorative. It is very heavy and substantial and is cast in wonderful detail. It has a crest of ribbon tails, laurel garlands and pine cones and has piped musical instruments to each side.

It stands on decorative feet and has a very sturdy stand to the back. The ormolu has mellowed over the years to a lovely old gold hue.

The glass is original to the frame and is intact with no chips or cracks.

The bride in the photograph wears a beautiful silk gown and has a wax bud couronne in her hair. Her husband sports an amazing moustache.

The frame measures 24 cm (9.5 inches) high x 17 cm (6.75 inches) wide and is 12 cm (4.75 inches) deep when on it's stand.

A gorgeous frame to add a château chic finishing touch and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
