B607 - SOLD

This is a charming antique French round textile covered boudoir box dating from the early 1900's.

It would have been used by a lady to store gloves, handkerchiefs or stockings and would be an attractive and useful addition to any boudoir.

The box is covered in a cotton fabric printed with 18th Century hunting scenes set in a forest. The huntsmen are finely dressed in leather boots and tail coats. They blow their large brass hunting horns while the dogs run about panting. The red of the coats contrasts beautifully against the greens and browns of the forest.

The lid of the box is padded and lifts off to reveal an interior lined with cream cotton. Here there are pretty pieces of pink floral paper cut to line the bottom of the box which has a watermark.

This lovely boudoir box has a charming timeworn quality about it but it is sturdy and ready for use for many years to come.

It measures :- 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) high x 17 cm (6.75 inches) in diameter.

Another divine boudoir chic French find from La Belle Étoffe!
