This is a gorgeous antique French studded leather box dating from the 1800's.

It is in the shape of a treasure trove / chest and would be perfect for a few precious keepsakes.

All of the contours of the box are studded and the leather is fabulously patinated, a combination that makes for a very atmospheric piece.

The domed lid lifts up to reveal an interior lined with red cotton fabric. This has aged pleasantly and is clean enough to take a pair of white kid gloves. The lid is held open by a brass chain.

The box has a lock but sadly the key has long gone. The box is sturdy and the leather, although patinated, is in good condition and could be waxed if required.

This very charming and decorative box would be fabulous as part of a period display and an excellent place to store treasure.

It measures :- H 17.5 cm (7 inches) x W 28.5 cm (11.25 inches) x D 16.5 cm (6.5 inches).
