This is an impressive pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Empire style and dating from about 1880.

They are very grand and would take a substantial pair of château curtains.

They are of fabulous quality with good weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

Both the back plate and fascia of the hook are extensively decorated with Empire style detail. The gilding on the ormolu has a gorgeous golden buttery hue with a little mellowing from the passage of time.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure :- H 21 cm (8.25 inches) x W 4 cm (1.5 inches) x D 17 cm (6.75 inches).
