B682 - Divine Antique French Papier-mâché Magazine Rack, Hand Painted Orchids, C1900

This is a divine antique French magazine rack dating from the late 1800's / early 1900's.

It is made from papier-mâché and sits on a metal stand with 4 sturdy feet. It would be suitable to stand on the floor, perhaps next to a favourite armchair.

The front flap has decorative cut outs. It drops down and is held in place with cord.

The base colour of the papie- mâché is a gorgeous rich deep burgundy with a crackle finish. The flap and back of the magazine rack is beautifully hand painted with a profusion of gorgeous orchids in subtle shades of pink, yellow and ochre with hints of green foliage.

The magazine rack is in excellent condition and is sturdy throughout.

It measures :- H 42 cm (16.5 inches) x W 40.5 cm (16 inches) x D 14.5 cm (5.75 inches)

This is a delightful magazine rack to add an authentic finishing touch to a vintage interior and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
