This is a gorgeous pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs dating from about 1880.

They are of fabulous quality with good weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The back plate is decorated with acanthus leaf scrolls and curls. The  fascia of the hook is also very decorative and has a fabulous wreath of roses tied with ribbon tails. The gilding on the ormolu is very lustrous and has a gorgeous golden buttery hue.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure :- H 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) x W 5 cm (2 inches) x D 16 cm (6.3 inches).
