B696 - SOLD

This is a divine antique French Cornely embroidered curtain dating from the 19th C. The fabric is a fabulous silk crêpe de chine in a lovely shade of antique cream.

The crêpe de chine has a gorgeous translucent quality. It has good weight and drapes beautifully. It is exquisitely embroidered across it's width with flowers and leaves with finely worked tendrils.

The curtain has it's original brass curtain hooks but there is also a hem to take a rod or a cane. At the bottom of the curtain is a deep hem of 22 cm (8.75 inches) so it could be lengthened if required.

The curtain is in good antique condition. It has acquired a sprinkling of tiny holes across it's width just above the embroidery and one or two others but these do not detract. There are also a few age spots which you would have to search to find. These also do not detract and may  come out with an additional launder.

The curtain measures :- 250 cm (8ft2.5 inches) long x 164 cm (5ft 4.5 inches) wide.

A gorgeous curtain to add a très jolie touch to a window and another fabulous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
