This is a magnificent antique French door knocker set dating from the 1800's.

It is made from cast iron and is a very substantial with considerable weight.

The knocker is in the shape of a lady's hand and is beautifully detailed. It has a ring on the index finger and there is a frilled cuff and bracelet at the wrist. The fingers clasp a ball which forms the actual knocker.

The  knocker comes with it's original decorative back bracket and the plate against which it hammers. These too are substantial and heavy.

Both the knocker and the plate have a threaded bolt and nut for fixing to the door. These have patinated over the years but the nut does unscrew from the bolt.

We have left the knocker as we found it with it's gorgeous authentic antique hue.

The knocker together with it's back plate measures :-

W 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) X H 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) X D 6 cm (2.5 inches)
