This is a gorgeous antique French door knocker set dating from the 1800's.

It is made from cast iron and is a weighty piece.

The knocker is in the shape of a lady's hand and is beautifully detailed. It has a ring on the middle finger and there is a frilled cuff and bow at the wrist. The fingers clasp a ball which forms the actual knocker.

The  knocker comes with it's original decorative back bracket and the plate against which it hammers. These too are substantial.

Both the knocker and the plate have a threaded bolt and nut for fixing to the door. These have patinated over the years but the nut does unscrew from the bolt.

We have left the knocker as we found it with it's original gorgeous silver paint now patinated to perfection.

The knocker together with it's back plate measures :-

W 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) X H 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) X D 6 cm (2.3 inches)
