B720 - SOLD

This is an exquisite and unusual antique French ormolu & green baize picture frame dating from the 1800's.

It would be perfect for a boudoir, perhaps placed on a bedside table.

It is the decoration on the top of the frame that sets it apart from others. In the centre is a flower garland loop and standing in this, wings outstretched, is a fabulous griffin. To either side is a beautiful winged cherub holding a flower crown. From the crown a beautiful flower garland swags upwards to join the central loop. The detail is exquisite and the gilded ormolu decoration shows up fantastically against the emerald green baize.

The ormolu border at the outer and inner edges of the frame are also very detailed with tiny sprigs of flowers.

The frame holds a charming antique photograph of two young girls but this could be changed if required.

The frame has a sturdy back rest and at the top is a loop for hanging it on a wall.

The frame is in good condition, the glass intact. There are a few minor dents to the ormolu but this does not detract in any way.

The frame measures 22.5 cm (9 inches) high x 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) wide.

While standing it is 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) deep.

A gorgeous frame for that special cherished photo and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
