These are 2 gorgeous vintage French / Swiss chocolate boxes dating from the mid 1900's. They have survived the years in amazing condition and would make a stunning contribution to a collection or display. They would be perfect for a few precious photos or letters.
The smaller box depicts a vibrant young woman with a blue bonnet trimmed with a gorgeous pink rose. She has a big pink bow at her throat and she carries a bouquet of wheat and poppies. With her bright red lipstick and finely shaped eyebrows she looks like a movie star of the day.
The lady on the larger box looks rather more dreamy - perhaps she is in love! She is reclining on a branch burgeoning with pink blossom. She wears a stunning lime green gown. Her bonnet is a darker shade of green and is trimmed with a blue ribbon that blows in the breeze. Around her head butterflies flutter.
The edge of the box is trimmed with patterned paper in stunning blue and pearlescent shades. Inside the box is the makers name 'Tobler Chocolatier Suisse'.
The smaller box measures :- 19 cm (7.5 inches) long x 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide x 2.5 inches (1 inch) high.
The larger box measures :- 27.5 cm (10.75 inches) long x 18 cm (7 inches) wide x 3.75 cm (1.5 inches) high.
Two beautiful boxes to display or use and enjoy and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
