This is a divine pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs dating from about 1880.

The back plate has a fabulous shell crest and the fascia of the hook has a gorgeous sunburst design with a flourishing scroll to either side.

They are of lovely quality with good weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The gilding on the ormolu has a gorgeous golden buttery hue with shiny highlights. It has mellowed in places which adds character to these lovely old tie backs.

They have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure :- H 18 cm (7 inches) x W 7 cm (2.75 inches) x D 14 cm (5.5 inches).

A superb pair of tie backs to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
