B761 - SOLDThis is a sublime rare antique French plaster bust of Lisette dating from about 1900, inspired by the shepherdess depicted in the 17th Century love song - “Pour la bergère Lisette” (“For the shepherdess Lisette”) by Bacilly (1625 – 1690). She is exquisitely pretty. She has rosebud pink lips and gorgeous brown eyes and it is these eyes that give the bust it's rarity, for they are made of glass. They are made in amazing detail and are of the highest quality. The whites are porcelain in colour. The irises are a gorgeous shade of brown and are incredibly life like. They are perfectly set and she has a kind and gentle expression. Lisette's hair is thick and lustrous. It hangs down her back in waves and a ringlet falls over her shoulder. The bust has timeworn to perfection over the years which adds to it's charm and beauty. It is a substantial piece and weighs over 3 kg. There is a brass plate to the front with the title 'Lisette Par Goyeau'. On the back it is signed 'J. Liveaux'. Lisette measures :- H 33 cm (13 inches) x W 30 cm (12 inches) x D 15 cm (6 inches). This is a gorgeous bust to add an authentic antique French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
