B767 - SOLDThis is a charming antique French mercerie's cabinet dating from about 1930. It has 3 drawers and would have been used to tidily store cotton yarns in a shop. It would have been provided by the maker of the yarns to promote their brand. The cabinet is made from plywood and this is gold embossed on all sides with the yarn manufacturer's trade mark - the letters DMC. The base of each of the drawers is made of hardboard. The fronts are made of bakelite and the little pull handles are also embossed with the letters DMC. The cabinet is in good, sturdy condition. It has a timeworn a little from years of use. There are a couple of cracks in the bakelite of the bottom drawer but this does not detract from the cabinet's looks or useability. It measures :- 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) high x 44 cm (17.25 inches) wide x 25 cm (9.75 inches) deep. This charming old mercerie's cabinet would make a useful and nostalgic addition to any sewing room.
