This is a divine antique French pen stand with inkwells dating from the 1800's. It would be perfect for a bureau in a château chic boudoir or salon.
The stand is made of an elegant brass frame and holds a porcelain dish and two glass inkwells.
The back of the frame is shaped to take two pens and there is a central crest.
The porcelain dish and inkwells are original to the stand. The dish is in a lovely shade of blue and has a very pretty central vignette of a crowned lady surrounded by red and white flowers. The inkwells are made of very old glass.
The stand and it's accessories have survived the years well. The design on the dish has worn a little and there are one or two tiny chips (see pics) on the inkwells. The top rims of the inkwells are a little rough from years of use but this does not detract and they are still fully functional.
The stand measures 13 cm (5 inches) high x 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 9 cm (3.5 inches) deep.
A divine pen and inkwell stand to have, use and treasure and another superb antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe.
