This is a fabulous antique French linen trousseau / dowry sheet dating from the 19th Century. It is of superb quality and is beautifully hand embroidered and monogrammed with the initials P & J.

The linen of the sheet is fantastic. It is very heavy ( over 2 kg) and has a nutty, oatmeal texture. It drapes beautifully and could be used as a curtain or fabric for upholstery projects. The colour is a pure natural unbleached flax.

The lowest edge of the sheet is hemmed and has a central monogram. The monogram is 7 cm (2.75 inches) high x 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide. It has the letters P & J beautifully embroidered with smooth satin stitch and each letter is adorned with a little flower. The embroidery is in cream which contrasts perfectly against the natural linen.

The sheet has a central seam. It has been laundered and is very crisp and fresh. It is in excellent condition.

The sheet measures 264 cm (8 ft 8 inches) long x 204 cm (6 ft 8.25 inches) wide.

This superb antique monogrammed sheet would make a lovely wedding present. It would be perfect for a bed and would also make a divine curtain.
