This is a superb antique French repoussé toleware picture frame dating from the early 1900's.

The sides of the frame are very decorative and have a raised repoussé fleur de lys and acanthus leaf design. At the corners this is overlain by further repoussé toleware work with glorious scrolls and curls and the effect is very three dimensional.

The gilding on the frame has mellowed in places over the years. Where it remains on the raised toleware howevever, it catches the light beautifully and the contrast is very pleasing.

The frame holds an antique photograph of a very distinguished looking elderly gentleman with an impressive set of whiskers. This could be changed if required.

The frame has a very luxuriant burgundy flock back and there is a sturdy back rest .

The frame is in good condition, the glass intact. It measures 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) high x 13.5 cm (5.3 inches) wide. While standing it is 13 cm (5 inches) deep.
