B793 - Collection 4 Antique French Cotton Indienne Hand Printing Wood Blocks Circa 1850

This is a superb collection of 4 antique French wooden printing blocks. They would have been used to hand print cotton Indienne textile in France in the 1850's.

They were intricately hand carved in tropical hardwoods in India. The designs can clearly be seen as can the remains of some red, blue and yellow dye in some of the more detailed parts.

The blocks are decorative in themselves and could just be displayed or they could be used for a textile printing project.

The largest measures :- 17 cm (6.75 inches) x 13.5 cm (5.3 inches)
The smallest measures :- 13 cm (5 inches) x 5 cm (2 inches)
