B798 - SOLD

This is an amazing antique French bob bon dish dating from the 1800's. It is breathtakingly beautiful and very decorative.

It is made of repoussé toleware and is in the shape of an open shell - probably an oyster.

Perched on a vine branch on the top edge of the shell is the most gorgeous little bird with it's wings outstretched, and tucked away inside the shell is a tiny little crab. The attention to detail is astonishing!

The shell stands on 4 very decorative brass, acanthus leaf scrolled feet.

The upper side of the top half of the shell has a copper coloured finish with gilded highlights. The under side of the bottom half of the shell is gilded and has a flower and leaf design.

Overall the dish measures :- 17.5 cm (6.75 inches) wide x 8.5 cm (3.5 inches) deep x 15 cm (6 inches) high.

This gorgeous dish would also be perfect for trinkets and make a sublime soap dish. Another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
