B823 - SOLD

This is a magnificent pair of antique French ormolu curtain pole finials in the Rococo style and dating from the 1800's. They would certainly add a touch of grandeur to a window.

They are very ornate and have extensive scrolled acanthus leaf detail. Around the base plate is twisted ribbon decoration.

They are heavy and of good quality with excellent detail to the casting. The gilding on the ormolu has mellowed and patinated over the years. This combined with a touch of verdigris creates a wonderful effect that could not be replicated.

The finials have their original screws for fixing to a pole.

They measure:- 14 cm (5.5 inches) high x 8 cm (3 inches) wide. The base plate is 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) in diameter.
