This is a sublime pair of antique French silk château curtains oozing opulence and style and dating from about 1900. They are in amazing condition and believe it or not we have another matching pair 14 cm longer (see our other items). They are part of a fantastic cache of silk curtains that made up a recent exceptional château find.
These curtains are beautifully made in an exquisite moiré silk damask in a delectable shade of raspberry pink. The textile is of superb quality and has a delightful flower garland design with the moiré forming the background. They drape perfectly and would look superb in a boudoir or a château chic salon.
The meeting edges and the bottoms of the curtains are trimmed with a fabulous thick fringed passementerie in a matching shade of pink.
The tops of the curtains still have their original large toleware rings which will accomodate a thick pole. There are 6 on each curtain. These are in excellent condition and have an internal diameter of 5.5 cm.
The curtains have their original linings which are in good antique condition. There are 2 tiny brass rings sewn on to the outside edge of each curtain to help keep the curtains in place when hung.
The curtains must have been hung in a well shuttered room for the silk is in exceptional condition with no fading. There is no wear to the textile and it is very clean. We have searched and found just 3 tiny dark dots (see pics).
Each curtain measures :- 266 cm (8 ft 8.75 inches) long x 125 cm (4 ft 1 inch) wide.
A truly exquisite pair of curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another superb antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
