This is a divine antique French silk brocade pelmet dating from the 19th C. It could be incorporated into a number of interiors projects. It would make a lovely pelmet above a window or a ciel de lit above a bed, or the beautiful vignettes could be framed or used to appliqué onto cushions.

The silk brocade textile is just exquisite. It has a sage green background with a basket of roses design in gorgeous shades of  pink and yellow. The silk is clean with no obvious marks and the colours are bright and beautiful.

The pelmet is lined and has a bobble passementerie trim. It has timeworn a little over the years but oozes château chic splendour.

The silk has 3 seams and something was once sewn to to these as the thread remnants remain. The passementerie trim has all of it's bobbles but some of them are rather frayed and they have all darkened with the passage of time. The lining has darkened and there are nail holes where the pelmet was attached to a frame. Please see photos.

The pelmet measures :- 138 cm (4 ft 6.25 inches) wide x 34 cm (13.25 inches) high including the bobbles.
