This is a stunning antique French tapestry château curtain / wall hanging / portière dating from the early 1900's. It is a feast for the eyes and would add an authentic touch of grandeur to a room.

The tapestry is woven in linen. It has a fabulous flower and leaf border. The central panel is dominated by a huge luxurient tree resplendent with leaves, chestnuts and fruits. Beneath this are 3 handsome hunting dogs. The hunting bag of their master hangs on a low branch of the tree.

The colours are a subtle palette of  taupes and ochres with highlights of black and would sit well in both a country or town house interior.

The portière is in good antique condition. There are some areas of minor wear around the edges and there are 3 small holes on the left hand edge where it was probably fixed back. These blend into the design and do not draw the eye.

We have used spring clips & rings (not included) to hang the curtain but there are loops on the back to hang it on hooks.

The curtain measures:- 286 cm (9 ft 4.5 inches) long x 120cm (3 ft 11 inches) wide.
