This is a magnificent set of 4 antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Empire style and dating from about 1880. They are very substantial with each one weighing nearly 1.5 kg. They would hold back very heavy drapes and would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a room.

They are of stylish and elegant shape. The hook has a dramatic curl to each side and delightful flower and acanthus leaf detail to the fascia.

The gilding on the ormolu has mellowed with time to a fabulous antique patina with some areas of verdigris.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate for fixing to a wall.

Each tie back measures :- H 18 cm (7 inches) x W 6 cm (2.3 inches) x D 21 cm (8.25 inches).
