B919 - SOLD

This is a superb pair of antique French château curtains dating from the early 1900's. They are long, drape beautifully and absolutely ooze quality and sophistication. They would be superb for a château chic salon or library.

They are made from a sumptuos silk damask textile in the 'Napoleon Bee' design. Empire style golden laurel leaf wreaths and bees contrast opulently against the rich dark green background.

The meeting edges of the curtains are trimmed with a matching passementerie and the bottoms are finished with a greeny/gold bobble passementerie.

The curtains are in excellent antique condition and are ready to hang. The textile has a little antique patina but there are no obvious marks to draw the eye. Overall the colour of the textile is vibrant with some fading at the meeting edges where the passementerie has also worn a little (see photos). At the bottom of the left hand curtain there are some very faint watermarks.

The tops of the curtains are sewn into pinch pleats, at each of which is sewn a wooden curtain ring. The curtains are lined.

Each curtain measures :- 250 cm (8 ft 2 inches) long x 120 cm (3 ft 11 inches) wide at the bottom and 95 cm (3 ft 1 inch) wide at the top.

A gorgeous pair of antique curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another rare brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!

N.B. Any curtain accessories that we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated.
