This magnificent antique French 19th Century tapestry wall hanging would add a fabulous authentic château grandeur finishing touch to a room.

It is woven in wool and linen and is large and impressive.

The scene is set in the 18th Century in a château garden. The château can be seen on the hill in the distance. A group of young people are gathered beneath two stunning trees with fountains and statuary behind them. The couple in the foreground are dancing to a musician who plays his pipes while the others sit around chatting and relaxing.

The colours are atmospheric browns and beiges darkened with the passage of time with highlights of pinks and roses on the costumes.

The wall hanging is in good condition. There are two small holes (please see photos), one of which disappears into the design. The edges show evidence of having once been attached to a frame.

The wall hanging measures :- 200 cm (6 ft 6 inches) high x 125 cm (4 ft 1 inch) wide.
