This is a stunning vintage French tapestry wall hanging. It is full of  medieval heraldic imagery and is woven in amazing detail. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

It depicts a medieval king and queen in front of a fountain. The queen is seated and is playing a lyre. The king is standing and has a falcon on his hand.

Their costumes are fantastic. The queen's head-dress is trimmed with pearls and that of the king has a central plumed feather. He wears a jewel at his throat and a big buckle at his waist. Their robes are woven in incredible detail with each garment having a different pattern.

Around the regal couple is a profusion of vegetation among which animals hide. These include a heraldic lion, a monkey, birds, a fox, a rabbit and a weasel. A little dog lies at the queen's feet.

The colours are amazing. Reds and green dominate the scene with touches of blue and yellow.

Around the scene is a green border with flower sprigs.

The tapestry is made in linen and wool and has excellent weight. It is lined with brown cotton textile. There are green tabs at the top to take a pole.

It is in excellent condition with a few spots on the lining.

The wall hanging measures :- 119 cm (3 ft 11 inches) high (not including the tabs) x 92 cm (3 ft ) wide.
