This is a gorgeous antique French hand worked needlepoint tapestry border / pelmet dating from the 1800's. It is nearly 3m long and large enough to incorporate into a number of interior projects. It would make a lovely pelmet above a window or it could hang vertically on a wall.

It is beautifully worked in wool along it's entire length with a gorgeous roses and flower design in rich jewel colours. We have ruby red & amethyst roses, sapphire hollyhocks and emerald green leaves. The colours have not dulled with the passage of time and look stunning against the brown linen background.

The pelmet has a border worked in subltle shades in wool onto the linen. It is lined. The lining has come adrift in one place and we can see that the tapestry is backed with hessian. We can also see from the lining that the pelmet was once attached but this does not show on the front.

The tapestry is in good antique condition with some very small areas of minor wear. We have photographed the entire length of the pelmet for close inspection.

The pelmet measures :- 298 cm (9 ft 9.5 inches) long x 22 cm (8.5 inches) wide.
