G298 - SOLD

This is a stunning antique French spelter planter / jardinière dating from the 1800's.

It would be perfect to take a couple of geraniums and would sit beautifully on a window ledge or perhaps on a hall console table.

The jardinière is very decorative and is in the Empire style. It sits on columned feet and has beautiful scrolled handles decorated with laurel leaves. The front and back have a central shield  framed with laurel leaf garlands. The garlands grow outwards and entwine with the pierced fretwork of the jardinière sides

Inside the jardinière has a gilded lift out tray with 2 little handles. The tray has patinated over the years to a verdigris finish. It is in good condition with just 3 tiny pinprick holes.

The silvering on the spelter has matured over the years to a palette of  subtle greys.

The jardinière is in good condition and would add a gorgeous finishing touch to a château chic interior.

It measures :- H 11 cm (4.3 inches) x W 40 cm (15.75 inches) x D 14 cm (5.5 inches).

Another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
