B1537 - SOLD

Dating from the Napoleon III period (C 1860) this gorgeous antique French stand would have originally been displayed below a glass dome as part of the traditional marriage display.

The dome has long gone and this superb period piece would now make a fabulous decorative piece or a display stand for jewellery perhaps in a château chic boudoir.

The stand sits on an ebonised wooden plinth. The focal point of the stand is the plump red padded velvet cushion upon which the original wedding couronne & corsage sits. They look divine as part of the display but could now be removed and used and the cushion used to display other items.

Above the cushion is an oval mirror and around this is a profusion of gilded toleware flowers and leaves, and paper thin porcelain roses and flowers. A stunning toleware hirondelle with a flower garland wreath in it's beak crowns this amazing confection.

Beneath the velvet cushion is another mirror surrounded by further toleware flowers and leaves and ceramic flowers.

The marriage stand has survived the years in amazing antique condition. There is a little fading to the cushion and distressing to the base as one would expect after so many years.

The stand measures:- 44 cm (17.25 inches) high x 31 cm (12.25 inches) wide x 21 cm (8.25 inches) deep.

A gorgeous timeworn treasure to add faded grandeur to any chateau chic boudoir and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
