This is a superb rare antique French chamberstick candle holder dating from around 1860. It isn't just ornamental and unusual it is useful too!

It is made of gilded copper. There are 3 curled feet each with a decorative brass ring. Above each foot is the figure of a medieval soldier in full dress armour.

A glass tube surrounds the central candle holder and there is a handle to the side of this.

The glass is full of gorgeous old imperfections and is etched with an anchor and the initials R & V.

The candle holder is in good antique condition. The gilding has acquired a lovely patina with subtle areas of verdigris. There are a few very minor nibbles to the rim of the glass.

It measures :- 14.75 cm (5.75 inches) high. The baseplate not including the feet is 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter.
