This is a superb large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging with a bucolic pastoral scene. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful rural vista with two magnificent trees in the foreground. Behind them is a river with a bridge and a watermill. A château can be seen in the background with a wooded hill behind.

All around is a profusion of lush vegetation. The colours are subtle greens, browns and ochres.

The tapestry is of excellent quality and is woven in cotton. It is in good vintage condition. There are some small tack holes on the top edge where it must once have been attached to a batten but these are not visible from the front. There is a 'scratch' about 10 cm long on the surface of the weave at the bottom of the tree on the left hand side but once again this does not draw the eye or detract (please see photos).

The tapestry measures :- 179 cm (5 ft 10.5 inches) high x 124 cm (4 ft 0.75 inches ) wide.
