This is a superb antique French mercerie's cabinet dating from about 1930.

It has 8 drawers and would have been used to tidily store cotton yarns. It would have been provided by the maker of the yarns to the shop to promote their brand.

The cabinet is covered in a canvas material that is coated and embossed to look like leather. The sides, top, back and drawers are gold embossed with the trade marks of the maker.

Each of the drawers has a little brass knob and a brass slot for a label for the contents.

We have left the cabinet as we found it and 3 of the drawers are full of cottons, silks and wools.

The cabinet is in excellent condition with just a little distressing to the canvas on one of the back corners.

It measures :- 44 cm (17.25 inches) high x 31 cm (12.25 inches) wide x 35.5 cm (14 inches) deep.

This fabulous old mercerie's cabinet would make a useful and nostalgic addition to any sewing room.
