B501 - SOLD

This is a sublime antique French textile covered boudoir box dating from the early 1900's.

It would have been used by a lady to store gloves, handkerchiefs or stockings and would be a pretty and useful addition to any boudoir.

The box is covered in a fine cotton fabric with a divine cabbage roses print in gorgeous shades of pink set against a background of lush green leaves. The fabric on the back and bottom of the box is as it would have been originally, but that on the sides and lid has deliciously faded over the years to perfection.

The lid and sides of the box are padded giving it a pleasingly plumptious look.

The lid is trimmed with a gorgeous rope passementerie which has also faded. The lid lifts up to reveal an interior lined with a soft cotton fabric in a co-ordinating shade of burgundy.

The box has been beautifully made and the the stitching is very neat. The fabric, although faded, is in good condition with no obvious areas of wear or marks. The box is sturdy and the hinges work perfectly.

This lovely boudoir box measures :- H 8 cm (3.25 inches) x W 30 cm (12 inches) x D 12.5 cm (5 inches)
