B2016 - Sublime Antique French Tapestry Wall Hanging, 18th Century Italian Riverside Scene

This is a sublime antique French tapestry wall hanging dating from the early to mid 1900's. It is of good size and has a beautiful bucolic 18th Century Italian riverside scene. It is a feast for the eyes and would create a fantastic focal point in a room.

In the background is a gorgeous mountain vista with a village and a waterfall.  To the foreground, by the riverside, a man and a woman tend their sheep with their dogs. They stand under a fabulous tree which towers above them. The colours are subtle hues.

Around this splendour is a gorgeous sewn border with a leaf and peony design.

The tapestry is of excellent quality. It is tightly woven in cotton in amazing detail. It is lined and has metal fixtures at the top for hanging purposes.

It is in good antique condition. The lining shows a few minor marks which of course will not show when hung. 

The tapestry measures :- 167 cm (5 ft 5.7 inches) wide x 131 cm (4ft 3.5 inches) high.
