This is a magnificent antique French stair newel post finial (Boule d'Escalier) dating from the 19th Century. It would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a hall or landing.

The finial has a gorgeous heavy crystal ball held on a brass base. The base has a screw for fixing to the post.

The gilding on the brass has mellowed to a lovely old gold hue. There is a flaw inside the glass at the base (please see photos). The surface of the glass remains smooth and it does not affect the usability of the boule or detract from it's beauty.

The finial measures:- 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) high (not including the screw) x approx. 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) wide. The base plate is 6 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter.
